Seminar: "The current status of the Gribov problem in gauge theories" by Prof. Rodrigo F. Sobreiro

Date

Tuesday, March 3, 2020 - 14:00 to 15:10

Location

C700, Lab 3

Description

Speaker: Dr. Sobreiro is a professor at Universidade Federal Fluminense, Brazil, and is currently visiting OIST.

Abstract: In this talk I will review most of the progress in solving the Gribov problem since its establishment in '78.  In essence, the problem relies on the fact that the Faddev-Popov procedure is incomplete, i.e., the gauge fixing does not eliminate all physically equivalent gauge configurations, the so called Gribov copies. The elimination of infinitesimal (associated with infinitesimal gauge transformations) copies is well understood in Landau and linear covariant gauges and the consequences have remarkable effects on the Green functions of Yang-Mills theories and BRST symmetry.
