Chair: Lorena Andreoli

Lorena Andreoli
(lorena.andreoli@oist.jp)

Academic life before OIST:

I did my bachelor’s in Psychology in my hometown, Brasilia, and moved across the country to pursue a master’s in Neuroengineering in a beautiful coastal city called Natal. For undergrad I worked mostly with clinical psychology and onco-pediatric psychology. In my Master's I worked with behavioural and electrophysiological characterization of an animal model of schizophrenia.

Unit at OIST:

I am currently in Memory Research Unit and Neurobiology Research Unit.

I study (in very broad terms) behavioural and cognitive neuroscience, because:

I find it so fascinating that one 1.4 kg organ can be responsible for such a diverse array of behaviours and thoughts.

In Okinawa, I like to:

spend time with friends and Goma-chan, explore the outdoors, go to karaoke/izakaya and try new food.

I am the Chair, because:

I got more votes than RON (Reopen the nominations)? Hehe.

I ran for Chair because of my experience in the SC in 2020 as Welfare Officer. I started working with stuff outside of the welfare scope and that made me realize I would very much like to help coordinating different areas of SC, supporting and conveying the opinions of the Student Assembly (SA) to OIST administration.

As Chair, I hope I can be of help to other students, to foster and promote respectful and fruitful discussions within the SA, especially in our monthly meetings (SAM) :)
