Workshop: Designing Inclusive STEM Training Environments
2024年3月12日 (火) 10:00 〜 11:30This interactive workshop will introduce approaches to facilitate inclusion, equity, and belonging in classroom, laboratory, and institutional training contexts. Workshop attendees will leave this session equipped with knowledge of evidence-based practices to promote equity, inclusion, and belonging and ideas for how to implement some of those practices within their local training environments.

A university that maximally benefits from its diverse community places paramount importance on expanding its insights toward creating inclusive classrooms and research environments. For a creative, courageous institution like OIST, it is crucial for our students, faculty, researchers, and administrators to engage with bold international educators and innovators. C-Hub’s Visiting Fellow Program fosters exchange and synthesis in collaboration with distinguished educators and experts across the world. Visiting Fellows present seminars or workshops, and engage in discussions with the OIST community on topics of relevance to C-Hub’s mission. Visiting Fellows also have the opportunity to collaborate with C-Hub on a project or program that will benefit the OIST community and extend our capacity toward supporting justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

2023年12月11日 (月) (All day)Academic Job Market Series, Module 5, Writing Diversity Statements will be held next week, December 14 (Thursday), from 4:15-5:30.
Diversity statements are becoming an increasingly common part of job application materials. Knowing how to conceptualize and then write one can greatly improve overall chances of success in a competitive job market.

The deadline is next Friday, December 8.
Please consider submitting a proposal for one of the following types of session:
- panel discussion
- professional development
- birds-of-a-feather/shared interests
- poster

Workshop: Facilitation as Leadership - Inclusive Event Facilitation
2023年12月5日 (火) 15:00 〜 16:30If you facilitate events for diverse audiences, you may encounter unexpected situations that are difficult to navigate at the moment. Effective facilitation centers on what participants are doing and experiencing, setting the tone of the event, and tending to the group dynamics in the room. Inclusive facilitation is a leadership skill that requires self-awareness, observational skills, agility, and intention. Join this session to sharpen your leadership facilitation skill set in preparation for your next event. This workshop is intended for participants who have some prior facilitation experience. The workshop will be conducted in English by Kristin Macapagal, Program Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Join this workshop to develop a personal action plan and practical toolkit for resilience in your daily professional setting after experiencing loss. This session is open to administrative staff, students, and researchers and is facilitated by Kristin Macapagal, Program Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Spots are limited to create a safe, respectful space for dialogue.
