Title: Generation of de novo designed protein structure library

Abstract:

The ability to design protein molecules with desired functions will provide a wide range of applications from the control of cells, therapeutic, new enzymes and protein-based materials. Recently, the technology for designing proteins has been greatly developed, enabled to create proteins with novel functions by redesigning naturally occurring proteins. However, natural proteins have optimized their structures to perform their functions in the long history of evolution, and thus it is generally difficult to implement new functions into the structures by remodeling them. Furthermore, most of the natural proteins are not very much stable, and therefore their folding abilities are easily lost with a few mutations. Here, we aim to develop methods for designing protein structures completely from scratch and to create a de novo design protein structure library composed of very stable and various shape structures for providing scaffolds to design functions. In this lecture, I will introduce our efforts toward the generation of de novo designed protein structure library.
