Description
Internal Seminar: Karim Essafi, Postdoctoral Scholar, Theory of Quantum Matter Unit (Shannon Unit)
Title: "Why Symmetry Matter"
Abstract: Symmetry is a crucial concept in physics. It imposes constraints on the form any physical theory may assume and it controls the structure of matter. In this talk, I will introduce the concept of symmetry and the role it plays in fundamental physics. Then I will show how we use symmetry in our work on frustrated magnets.
Refreshments will be served afterward. We hope to see you there!
