Title: Domain-specific Large Language Models: Case Studies in Educational and Medical Fields

Abstract: In this presentation, we will examine the progression of natural language processing (NLP) technologies, from the advent of Transformer models to the sophisticated realm of Generative Pretrained Transformers (GPTs). Our discussion will focus on two specialized sub-fields: the scientific and educational sector, alongside the medical text domain. Through this lens, we intend to shed light on the recent strides in NLP research and discuss the considerable influence these developments may have across diverse industries.

Short bio: Irene Li is now a project assistant professor at the University of Tokyo. She obtained her PhD degree in natural language processing at Yale University advised by Prof. Dragomir Radev. Her main research focus is language modeling, transfer learning and NLP applications in healthcare and education.
