NanoJapan: 12 excellent students visit OIST Friday 5th - Monday 8th
As part of a US-NSF program, OIST is hosting twelve young, dynamic undergraduate students, selectively chosen from all over the US.
After a few weeks of intensive Japanese language training in late May, they are pursuing research internships in science and technology at various institutes and
universities in Japan for three months. They are visiting OIST in the middle of their internships - the Mid Program Meeting, to experience a new university and new cultural part of Japan. They will visit several research units on campus, meet faculty members and OIST students, visit and see the Physics Common Resources, attend a presentation by the Graducate School, as well as various Okinawan cultural activities over the weekend.
The NanoJapan Program is an NSF International Research Experience for Undergraduates (IREU)
Program and has been recognized as a model for international education programs for
science and engineering students. In addition to hosting the Mid Program Meeting, OIST is hosting Mitch Connolly, one of the Nano Japan students, in the Dani Unit from 2rd June to 23rd July. If you are interested in talking to the NanoJapan students, please contact KMDani@oist.jp.
