Nonequilibrium Dynamics and Information Processing in Biology

Biological systems consume chemical energy to gain information about their internal and external environment, store this information, and replicate it. Evolution has lead to ingenious solutions to perform these tasks in a fast and accurate way. In recent years, statistical physics has developed new approaches to study how information is processed out of equilibrium. These results open the way to understanding the general physical laws determining how living systems have evolved their information-processing capabilities. This mini-symposium will gather experts studying different facets of this problem, with the goal of discussing common approaches leading to a general theory of information processing in biology.
