Professor Kazumi will share her experience with fisheries and policy. She will also talk about her experience as a Japanese female professor and how to promote diversity in academia in Japan.
The United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (UNDOS) started in 2021. In the UNDOS, co-design, co-production, and co-delivery of ocean science is promoted. In Japan, ocean science through collaboration between researchers and fishermen has been in practice since before the call of the UNDOS. In this talk, one of the collaborative initiatives between ocean scientists and fishermen in Shimokita, facing Tsugaru Strait in Aomori will be presented. Keys for the collaborative work and challenges in Japan as an ocean policy scientist will be shared. Furthermore, some thoughts as a female researcher in ocean science in Japan will be also discussed.

In the last few decades, the notion of Integrable systems and Chaos, both classical and quantum, have seen immense developments. Fuelled by a flurry of scientific inter-community dialogues, these ideas have turned out to be universally useful in a wide spectrum of theoretical studies, from worldsheet string sigma models, to black holes and holography, and further into real experimental systems. Numerous interesting connections between these seemingly disparate research areas are developing, promising to shed light on important open questions. We hope to further fuel these dialogues by inviting people from different fields using state-of-the-art tools to explore these exciting ideas.
