Whether you're new to painting or have some experience, this workshop is perfect foreall levels. You'll learn essential watercolor techniques, explore color mixing theory, and create beautiful landscape paintings. Plus, all materials are provided!

Fee: ¥2500 for OIST students, ¥3000 for others

Class will be taught in English.

Please wear old clothing or bring a smock to protect clothing from paint.

Class Details

Beginners Class

You will be able to play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in the first class!

In this class, you will be introduced to a brief history of Sanshin and basic skills such as how to use a pick, how to hold the Sanshin, and how to read the notes. We will practice the first 3 songs below for a month to get along with the Sanshin. Then, we will gradually move onto Okinawan Traditional songs and POP songs.

  1. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star(きらきら星)
  2. Froggy song(カエルの歌)
  3. Orion Beer Song from BEGIN(オジー自慢のオリオンビール)
  4. Aha-Bushi- Okinawan folk song(安波節)
  5. Asadoya-Yunta 0 Okinawan fork song (安里屋ユンタ)
  6. Shimanchnu Takara (Treasure of Islander) from BEGIN (島人の宝)

Intermediate/Advanced Class

This is a class for those who can read notes fluently. Requests are welcome! We play Okinawan folk songs, POPs, and Ryukyuan Classical music in this class. You will enjoy your favourite songs such as:

  1. Nada Soso(涙そうそう)
  2. Sanshin no Hana(三線の花)
  3. Warabigami(童神)
  4. Songs for Eisa (Okinawan Traditional drum dance)(エイサー曲)
  5. Onna - bushi (Ryukyuan classical song)(恩納節)

etc.

This class is available throughout the year (Thursdays), so please contact me whenever you would like to join.

Join Us for a Unique Soy Sauce Workshop and Discover the Art of Soy Sauce Making!

 We are thrilled to invite you to an exclusive workshop hosted by Mr. Kajita, CEO of Kajita Shoten, a 150-year-old soy sauce brewery in Ehime Prefecture. Kajita Shoten is one of the very few soy sauce breweries in Japan that handles every step of the production process, from sourcing raw materials to manufacturing, entirely in-house.

A pattern is a design with shapes or lines that repeat again and again. In this class we will be using watercolor paints to create a background and then using pens to draw interesting patterns on top.
