Haarii Dragon Boat Race Introduction

Learn more about the Okinawan Haarii dragon boat races and the OIST team.

Date/tim: Thu, 11th April 2024 from 11am to 1pm (Live music performance during lunch time)

Location: Center Court

There will be paintings, postcards, magnets, 3D prints, embroidery, stickers, tote bags, resin art, and more.

Come support OIST community artists and crafters at the open tida Art & Craft market, during lunchtime on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

There will be paintings, postcards, magnets, 3D prints, embroidery, keychains, notebooks, stickers, tote bags, resin art, and more.

Come buy or just browse and say hello. It’s the perfect place to get some unique Christmas gifts too!

Invitation to Ryukyu Awamori and Food Pairing workshop!

The OIST Recreation Services, in partnership with the Okinawa Regional Tax Office, is delighted to present a unique opportunity to explore the history, culture, production techniques, and traditions of Ryukyu Awamori

While enjoying new and aged Awamori that has been passed down through generations, you can also experience the pairing of these Awamori with various foods!
*Vegan and Vegetarian options available

Whether you're an Awamori enthusiast, a curious beginner, or somewhere in between, this event promises insights into the best ways to appreciate and enjoy this distinct beverage along with its ideal food companions.

We are scheduling this event on two separate occasions, with identical content. Kindly select the date that aligns best with your availability

OIST Gardening club

Gardening for a greener (and tastier) tomorrow!

Meeting every Wednesday evening in West Court Garden.

Spring/Summer time: 6pm-7:30pm 

                                       (approx April 16^th - Sept 15^th)

Autumn/Winter time: 5pm - 6:30pm 

                                       (approx Sept 16^th - April 15^th)

Use the Okinawan sunshine to learn how to grow plants, herbs, fruit or veggies in a sustainable way, and keep the neighbourhood alive and flowerishing!

If you want to compost household organics, or grow organic edibles, or simply spend some time outdoors learning some useful skills, join the club!
