Title: Nanoplasmonics for Protein-Protein Interactions

Abstract:  Protein-protein interactions are crucial for processes within an individual or between several living cells and are largely influenced by present intermolecular binding forces. One strategy to investigate these molecules and their bioactivity is to examine interactions between light (photons) and surrounding matter (i.e., biological samples). These studies offer insights into specific molecular functions by evaluating changes in light energy levels upon sample exposure. In this talk, I will discuss experimental ways to fabricate low-resolution nanostructures with enhanced optical sensitivity and how these nanostructures can later be applied for real-time measurements of average intermolecular binding forces between individual protein molecules.

After the talk, please join for discussion with free soft drinks and pizza!
