FAO's Visiting Programs

Visiting Scholars

These programs aim to foster a vibrant scientific culture and promote collaboration with Visiting Scholars (PRP 4.7.6). Visiting Scholars are expected to actively contribute to the research environment at OIST and to its research output.

  • Theoretical Sciences Visting Program (TSVP, 理論科学客員プログラム)
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and be independent researchers at a research-intensive institution. The TSVP hosts both individual Visiting Scholars (3 to 12 months) and thematic activity (2 weeks to 3 months). More information can be found on the TSVP website.

  • Distinguished Visiting Scholar Program (DVSP, 著名な科学者招聘プログラム)
This program emphasizes novel and innovative approaches in research by inviting top-tier faculty to spend their sabbatical time at OIST (Program Overview).

Interdisciplinary Postdoc Scholar Fellowship (IPSF)

The Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Scholar Fellowship (IPSF is a new initiative for talented early career researchers from all over the world. The Fellowship provides a unique opportunity to advance researchers' academic careers by conducting full-time interdisciplinary research and training with OIST faculty and respective research units. Prospective Fellows should contact PI's of OIST units that they wish to work with and establish, at some minimum level, feasibility of their research plan before applying (PRP 4.2.5.4).
