Description

On December 8th and 9th OIST will be the venue of the "Library Camp 2013 in Onna Village". The fifth library camp shall welcome participants, who will exchange ideas and experience on the topic "Island Libraries, Traveling and Libraries - Understanding the Informational Environment of Island Libraries in Japan".

The two-day program, which is comprised of an unconference, guest talks, and other events, will offer participants the chance to discuss about the current state of Japan's informational environment and society, the role of libraries, etc.

The Library Camp is a project, which aims to transform the library, as we know today, to a library, which stands as the stronghold of society's intellectual infrastructure. "Create a Creative Library, Create the Library of the Future" is the vision that unites the camp participants, who gather to address issues concerning the future of libraries.
