Abstract:
This work explores the critical importance of biodiversity conservation in Mindanao, highlighting the region's rich array of species and unique ecosystems. It emphasizes the ongoing conservation efforts to preserve natural treasures through sustainable practices and scientific discoveries, underscoring their global ecological significance based on Mt. Hamiguitan’s experience. The presentation includes recent species discoveries, which illustrate Mindanao's role as a biodiversity hotspot, and the steps taken to nominate its key ecological sites as World Heritage properties. These efforts aim to secure international recognition, protection, and legislation. Ensuring the preservation of Mindanao's natural heritage for future generations while promoting ecological awareness and sustainable development mt. Kitanglad, Mt. Mt. Kalatungan, Mt. Balatukan, Mt. Melibengoy and Mt. Matutum.
