Seminar "Dynamics of long fibers in turbulent flow" by Dr. Gautier Verhille

Date

Monday, October 28, 2024 - 10:00 to 11:00

Location

Center Bldg. B503

Description

Speaker:

Dr. Gautier Verhille
CNRS researcher at IRPHE, Marseille, France

Abstract:

More and more studies are devoted to fibers in turbulent flow motivated by both fundamental questions, such as "how does an anisotropic particle behave in turbulent flow?", and industrial or environmental application. During this seminar, I will present the research mad at IRPHE on both rigid and flexible particles in turbulent flows.

Bio:

Gautier Verhille is CNRS researcher at IRPHE, Marseille, France since 2011. After a PhD on the dynamo instability at the ENS de Lyon where he worked on the VKS experiment under the supervision of J.-F. Pinton and N. Plihon, he made a postdoc on fluid-structure instabilities in rocket engine at IRPHE. Since 2014, his researches are mainly focused on the dynamics of flexible particles in turbulent flows.
