Description

Title: A Journey with Semipinacol Rearrangement: From a Serendipitous Observation to Systematic Study

Speaker: Prof. Yong-Qiang Tu

Astract:
One of the important key points during my career is the serendipitous observation of an interesting reductive rearrangement reaction of α–hydroxy epoxides in 1995. Inspired by such a tandem reaction, we started a wonderful journey in the research field of semipinacol rearrangement related organic synthesis. After 20 years assiduous efforts, we have brought this old topic with some new contents,1 which ranges from a series of tandem reaction modes to their application in total synthesis of bioactive molecules and asymmetric catalysis. In this lecture, a systematic introduction of our research related to the semipinacol rearrangement will be presented. We hope you will draw some inspiration and reference from it.
