Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Biophysics / Quantitative Biology

The Biological Complexity Unit at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), Japan, headed by Prof. Simone Pigolotti, is looking for an outstanding candidate for a postdoctoral position. The Unit studies the stochastic dynamics of biological systems using biophysical/mathematical theory and computational methods. Research topics of interest include information processing in molecular reactions, facilitated diffusion of proteins, biodiversity of bacterial populations and stochastic thermodynamics. Please see our website  for more information.

An ideal candidate would have a Ph.D. in theoretical biophysics, statistical physics, mathematical biology or related topics and excellent analytical/computational skills. Experience in bioinformatics and in specific research themes of the Unit are added values.

Postdoctoral positions are usually held for three years. OIST is a rapidly growing interdisciplinary university providing competitive working conditions, housing allowance, an international environment, state-of-the-art facilities and substantial resources for research.

Applicants should send a CV, a cover letter and a brief statement of research interests combined in a single PDF file to jobs.bcu(at) and arrange for at least two recommendation letters to be sent. Inquiries about the position can be sent to the same address.
