SHIMA 2023
Workshop Overview
SHIMA is an outreach project that aims to educate high school students about the sustainability of island ecosystems and cultures.
The concept of SHIMA is based on these interrelated pillars: "science education outreach activities", "engagement between OIST scientists and neighboring communities", and "understanding sustainable island ecosystems and cultures". It is a workshop for high school students addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and island sustainability.
SHIMA 2023 is supported by U.S. General Consulate Naha.

Additional Information
【Meeting point】
The meeting point for the workshop will be at OIST.
Participants from Okinawa main island will need to arrange their own transportation to OIST (August 14th) and from OIST Seaside House (August 18th).
【Accommodation and Meals】
The workshop is of 5 days and 4 nights.
Accommodation and meals during the workshop will be provided by OIST. Participants will stay at OIST Seaside House. Map.
