Description
The speaker: Prof. Louis H Kauffman (University of Illinois Chicago)
Title: An Introduction to the Kauffman Bracket Polynomial and Khovanov Homology (as a topological back-story to reconnections of vortices)
Abstract: This talk is self-contained. We will discuss how Khovanov Homology is constructed from bracket states of a knot diagram and how this technique can be used to estimate reconnection numbers of knotted vortices in three dimensional space.
