Seminar: 'Do I have what it takes?' The skills you need for a thriving career
As a member of the OIST community, you are skilled and highly trained: but do you know your career options and what it takes to secure the best opportunities? The intensity of academic study and research make it hard to step back and see the diversity of your choices. With time at a premium, too, when did you last take stock of your own skills and experience, and whether you would have a competitive edge in applying for a prize role?
This 90-minute seminar will give you the motivation and resources to do this and more. Dr Fritsches will highlight career options starting from a base in academia, and their key requirements. Her seminar will guide you through examining your strengths, pinpointing the skills that win you roles and identifying gaps in your record and profile that you might need to fill. It will also explore best practice in ‘selling yourself’ effectively in application processes, based on what employers themselves say they are looking for when recruiting new talent.
