This session will be in Japanese. The program will start off with OIST general introduction, PhD & Research Internship admission process, financial support and student life followed by the panel discussion by 2 OIST PhD students.
Speakers
Kojiro Suda (OIST PhD student, Year of 2019)
Kojiro was born and raised in Osaka, Japan. He studied neurological disorders using the Drosophila model at Kyoto Institute of Technology and received a bachelor's degree at the end of March 2019. After a one-month GAP program, he enrolled in OIST in May 2019. He is interested in cell biology and working in the Membranology Unit (supervisor: Assistant Professor Keiko Kono). He studies cellular senescence, focusing on organelle interaction. His favorite organelle is the endoplasmic reticulum. He is always happy to answer any questions about life at OIST and admissions.
Morihiro Ohta (OIST PhD student, Year of 2020)
Morihiro was born in Nago City, Okinawa. After graduating from Nago High School, he studied physics at the University of the Ryukyus. He engaged in research about complex systems and got a Master's degree at the end of March 2020. During his graduate studies, he worked as a research assistant in the Quantum Dynamics Unit (supervisor: Prof. Denis Konstantinov) at OIST. He is currently working as a rotation student in the Quantum Systems Unit (supervisor: Prof. Thomas Busch). He has never lived outside of Okinawa before. He is proud to be the most local student in this global graduate school. He would like to see more Okinawan students at OIST.
