Procurement Explanatory Session/ 調達説明会開催について
An information session on recent updates to procurement operations and rules will be held on Wednesday, October 22, from 11:00 to 11:50 , in a hybrid format (Center Building B250 or Zoom). The session will include a Q&A segment. Simultaneous English interpretation will be available, and presentation materials (and possibly a recording) will be uploaded online afterward for those unable to attend.

While AI tools can aid in grammar correction, stylistic enhancement, and idea generation, they risk diluting personal voice through homogenized phrasing and over-standardization. Virtual School Fairs for Families

In addition to the October 9 school fair that will focus on local schools in Okinawa, we are planning to host two virtual school fairs this October to introduce additional educational options. All interested families are welcome to join, regardless of the age of your children. (Children are welcome to attend as well!)
The two sessions have been organized based on the type of school experience provided: international boarding schools in Japan and online learning programs (full-time and subject-based options). All of these options use an English-based curriculum and are either in Japan or can accommodate students based in Japan. We welcome you to attend either or both sessions.

In collaboration with leading venture capital firms, OIST Innovation offers startups and entrepreneurial researchers or students the opportunity to connect directly with venture capitalists for one-on-one mentoring and discussion. Each round begins with an open seminar-style introduction, where participants can learn about the VC firm's investment focus and characteristics. This is followed by private, closed-door mentoring sessions between startups/researchers/students and the VC representatives.
The featured VC for this round is ON&BOARD .
Registration is required. If the number of applicants exceeds the available slots, OIST Innovation will select participants based on the information provided in the registration form and the strategic fit with the VC.
AI-Based Entrepreneurial Projects at OIST
As part of Researcher Appreciation Month, join us for a special event on AI-based entrepreneurial projects. Speakers include Dr. Shunichi Kasahara (Sony & OIST) on Cybernetic Humanity, Andrew Bruhacs (OIST) on his AI tool connecting industry with researchers, and Melika Sadeghi Tabrizi (POC project) on an Edge AI system detecting invasive frog species. The session will showcase how AI is being applied across fields from human–computer integration to biodiversity protection.
