Registration for Hands-on Okinawan Cultural Food and Art Activities for New Students and Returning Students.
Come join us for a cultural walk through Murasaki Mura. "Murasaki Mura is a reproduction of Naha City during the 14th and 15th centuries, when Okinawa, then known as the Ryukyu Kingdom, was a flourishing trade center. Located near Cape Zanpa, this cultural theme park with red-tile roofs, stone walls and cobblestone streets recreates the grandeur of the kingdom era." We will then participate in a hands-on activity for Okinawan Cultural Food and Art.
Please note: New Students will be given first priority for transportation.

|9:40am||Depart OIST for Murasaki Mura|
|10:00-10:30am||Arrive at Mura Saki Mura and tour facility|
|10:30-11:30am or 12:00pm||Attend registered Okinawan hands on activity|
|11:30-12:45pm||Walk to lunch at Gala - Bring money for lunch|
|1:00pm||Return to Mura Saki Mura for transportation back to OIST|
|~1:20pm||Return to OIST|
Please register for one activity. We cannot chage activities, so please love what you want to do :)
|Bingata Place Mat. Bingata was born in the 15th century during the Ryukyu Dynasty, when foreign trade was flourishing, as a mixture of dyeing techniques from various countries. You can dye the preared fabric with your favorite colors. Dry it and wash off the glue when you get home.|
|Chinsuko - Okinawan Cookie. You will start by making the dough for the Chinsuko, then make it into the shape you like and bake it. If you can remember how to make the dough with the right texture, you can then make this at home.|
|Unglazed Shisa. Around the 15th and 16th centuries, Shisa is aid to have been introduced from China for the purpose of protecting the home and symbol of power of successive kingdoms. It was later set up to protect the village from disasters and is now the mascot of Okinawa. You will color one of these Shisa peices.|
|Unglazed Whale Shark Coloring. Yomitan Village Fish "Whale Shark" You will paint the whale shark and make it come to life.|
|Sata Andagi. In the Okinawan doughnut: Sugar dough fried in oil - Crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Enjoy!|
