OWECS2014: Evolution of Complex System (Evolutionary Developmental Biology of Animals)
Date
Location
Description
The OIST Winter Workshop "Evolution of Complex Systems" (OWECS) has two aims. First is to provide opportunities for young researchers with biological backgrounds to learn the latest advances in the field of evolutionary developmental biology (evo-devo). Second is a deep discussion on the recent progress in the evo-devo field, since recently there are very few opportunities to discuss this topics.
The OWECS will consist of 6 days of lectures and discussion including presentation of PhD students and postdocs.
Following lectures and related lab-works will be planned:
- An introductory overview of evolution of complex systems.
- Genome scientific base of animal evolution.
- Evolution of complex systems in lower metazoans.
- Evolution of complex systems in artholopods.
- The origin and evolution of chordates.
- Evolution of complex systems in vertebrates.
- Gene regulatory network involved in evolution of complex systems.
Workshop Type:
Course
The course will accept up to 35 participants.
- There are no tuition costs.
- OIST will cover the accommodation and food of all selected course participants.
- OIST may cover travel costs for some participants.
- OIST will help you with the arrangement of travel visas, if necessary.
