Description

Title

The 3rd OIST-UO Joint Symposium on Emergent Functional Materials and Reactions

Abstract

The OIST-UO Joint Symposium on Emergent Functional Materials and Reactions is an established bilateral scientific meeting jointly organized by OIST and The University of Osaka (UO). The symposium has already been successfully held twice: the first meeting was hosted by OIST, and the second was held at the University of Osaka last year. The most recent symposium attracted more than 80 participants and successfully fostered numerous new connections and discussions among faculty members and students from both institutions.
The symposium focuses on molecular design, synthesis, characterization, and theoretical understanding of emergent functional materials and chemical reactions, encompassing organic, inorganic, coordination, polymer, and computational chemistry.
The program will consist of keynote lectures, invited talks by young researchers, and poster sessions. All presentations will be conducted in English to promote international exchange and to provide students with experience in an international academic environment within Japan.
We anticipate approximately 80–90 participants in total and 35–40 from Osaka, including faculty members, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students. Through this expanded format, the symposium aims to further strengthen institutional collaboration and deepen scientific interaction between OIST and UO.
