Location

Description

As a continuation of the Greener Mobility Ideathon held in December last year, this mid-term workshop serves as a platform to share interim results and engage stakeholders, including local citizens, in shaping the next phase of development. The project aims to explore practical and community-driven solutions for sustainable transportation, combining digital tools, behavioral insights, and collaborative design.

昨年のアイデアソンにご参加いただきましたか?今年もぜひご参加いただき、研究チームの進捗状況をお聞きください。すべての講演は日本語でもご覧いただけます(フィードバックセッションは英語のみとなります)。

In the Progress Session, we will present the interim results and prototypes, including:

  • a LINE-based application designed to collect mobility-related opinions and automatically classify them,
  • gamification strategies to encourage greener choices, and
  • a prototype route exploration function that highlights eco-friendly modes of travel, executed on a secure cloud computing platform.

In the Feedback Session, participants will have the opportunity to try out these features firsthand and provide feedback. Insights from this interactive session will directly inform the refinement of the prototypes and guide the next stages of development toward a more sustainable and user-centered mobility framework.

Background

This mid-term workshop is organized by the EU-Japan EIG Concert Japan Project:
"A proactive Social-based framework for SMART transportation (SO-SMART)" project on Sustainable Mobility in Okinawa.

SO-SMART brings together experts from EU and Japanese labs over a period of three years to develop practical solutions using an eco-design process involving local citizens. The project aims to develop a platform that is not just useful for Onna/Okinawa, but can act as a reference for future developments in Japan and Europe.

OIST's Visiting Program (TSVP) is the local host of this event at OIST, consisting of a lecture followed by a progress report and feedback session. OISTers and local residents will work together with experts to find solutions to improve sustainable mobility in the Onna-Ishikawa area.
