OIST Woodworking
A 10 minute introduction is required to join the OIST woodworking club. There is a 2000yen membership fee (one time payment) and it is necessary to sign a waiver form.
The wood workshop is located at the far right hand side of the 'clay factory' (opposite side to the climbing wall). Wood workers are permitted to use the tools and space within the wood workshop only. Tools, items and space belonging to facilites and maintenance sections are strictly off limits. Parking outside the wood workshop is limited to outside work hours only (after 6pm Mon-Sat, all day Sunday).
The workshop includes a table saw, a small bandsaw, mitre saw, drill press, belt sander, many power hand tools and a fair few hand powered hand tools as well as a few oddities. All of the tools are on the cheaper/anaemic side because the shop is student funded, but they get the job done. Before beginning a project it is worth checking the stock of free wood, other materials and hardware.
Label all personal projects and clean up after yourself!
