Title: Searching for Order within Disorder

Abstract: The amorphous state is not well understood in comparison to the crystalline state. Part of what hinders the understanding is that no experimental method currently exist through which the atomic structure of these materials can be directly determined. With electron beams, probes can be formed with sizes comparable to the short- and medium-range order atomic clusters within the materials. By combining large datasets obtained with small probes with image processing techniques commonly employed in cryo electron microscopy, I outline the first efforts to obtain direct measurements on short-range order structures in so-called disordered materials
