Zometool Installation  “幾何学をつくろう！“

The Zome event at OIST will provide participants with a hands-on opportunity to probe Zometool’s possibilities by helping to build a large Zome installation.

想像力や創造性をはたらかせ、Zometoolで実際に作品を作ってみましょう。ノーベル賞受賞者ライナス・ポーリング博士や数学者のロジャー・ペンローズ博士らも推奨する立体図形製作ツール「Zometool」を使って、複雑な幾何学図形の構築を体験するイベントです。

What is "Zometool"?
Paul Hildebrandt calls Zome a “language for understanding the structure of space.” In its current form, the balls and struts of the Zome system represent points and lines that define regular 2-, 3-, and 5- fold symmetries in space. These provide a rich basis for mathematical, scientific, artistic, and architectural exploration.

"Zometool"とは？
ゾムツール、ゾムとも呼ばれる玩具です。積木やLEGOなどと同様に、自由な遊びをする中で、数学的概念も獲得できます。
正三角形や正四角形などのシンプルな形の形成から、正12面体や、DNA配列、分子配列を立体に表現することができる、教育玩具としても優れたツールです。数学や科学、芸術、建築などを楽しく学ぶのにも適しており、頭の中でイメージした構造を形にすることができます。
