Description
On behalf of the Okinawa University Consortium (comprised of the 11 Okinawan Universities) OIST students are invited to the Consortium-sponsored 2nd Okinawa Student Summit. The Summit will be held on December 19th at Bankoku-Shinryokan where the G-8 Summit took place in the year 2000.
As part of the program, former United Nations Under-Secretary General/U.N. Ambassador to Japan Kiyotaka Akasaka will be our Keynote Speaker. The theme of his speech will be "Will our world in 2030 be a peaceful place to live?". As this year commemorates 70 years after the end of World War II, Excellency Ambassador Akasaka will discuss current issues such as the threat of terrorist attacks and various problems we are facing today in the world, as well as potential solutions to these complex problems.
We are inviting students from the 11 Okinawan Universities and after the main speech by Excellency Ambassador Akasaka, we would like to hold a discussion among the students. OIST students are also welcome to participate in discussions with other Japanese students at round table sessions.
In order to determine the number of students for transportation and other logistics, if you will attend we require a response by December 11, 2015. We hope to see many students from OIST at the Okinawa Student Summit on December 19th.
