Big Geographical Data: a digital revolution for transportation studies (Session 1)

The advent of information and communication technology, the Internet of Things, intelligent sensors, pervasive networks, and social media have led our society toward a digital era that offers novel avenues for the understanding of human activities that happen in space and time. This short course offers a review of current progress and research challenges opened to the research community. It will offer a panorama of recent advances oriented to the understanding of mobility patterns in urban and regional environments, maritime transportation trends at the regional and worldwide levels, and opportunities for students’ research projects.

Target Audience

Graduate students with a minimum background in computer science will be a plus but the content is general enough for a large audience.
