Abstract:
 Dr. Yael Levitte, the Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity at Cornell University, will discuss best practices for promoting participation of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines from Cornell and other US Universities that have instituted successful gender equality programs.

Biography:
Yael Levitte is the Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity at Cornell University. Dr. Levitte works on issues of faculty development, faculty hiring, faculty retention, and faculty diversity across Cornell University. Her research on the entry and retention of women in the sciences was funded by National Institutes of Health Her current research project titled: “Collaborative Research: Early Career Transitions into STEM Employment: Processes Shaping Retention and Satisfaction” is funded by the National Science Foundation. In 2010, Dr. Levitte received Cornell's Cook Award for her commitment to women's issues and improving the climate for women at Cornell.
She earned a B.A. from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and MS.Pl. in Urban Planning, and a Ph.D. in Economic Geography from the University of Toronto.
