Serakaki Eisa Performance @ OIST 瀬良垣エイサーパフォーマンス @ OIST

The Eisa season has come! The Eisa is a form of folk dance originating from Okinawa. It is a Bon dance that is performed by young people of each community during the Bon festival to honor the spirits of their ancestors. Now a day, it is seen as a vital part of Okinawan culture.

This Thursday, Serakaki Eisa Group will be performing at OIST and everybody is welcomed to join the ceremony.

主要な行事のひとつであるエイサーの季節がやってきました。エイサーはこのお盆時期に現世に戻ってくる祖先の霊を送迎するため、各区の若者たちが歌と囃子に合わせ、踊りながら地区の道を練り歩くという沖縄の伝統行事です。
