This course attracted Umar’s attention to study Science Courses in Government Day Secondary School Kofar Wambai, Bauchi between (2003-2005). At that same year, he went to the School of Basic and Remedial Studies (SBRS/ABU), Funtua, Katsina State, Nigeria, where he studied pre-medical science courses, and graduated in the year 2006. In 2010, he obtained his Bachelor Degree (Hons) on Anatomy from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Nigeria. After his studies, he proceeded to the one year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
Ahmad is currently a graduating Master Research Student under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Fauziah Othman and Dr. Yong Yoke Keong of the Research Laboratory of Anatomy and Histology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Serdang, Malaysia. He gained a lot of skills in the course of his laboratory research which includes; laboratory safety, viral propagation and purification, animal cell culture work, handling of light and fluorescence microscopes, running MTT and TUNEL assays, HPLC, mRNA extration, Flow cytometry, and ELISA experiments. His research interests includes; Identification of anti-cancer agents, Virotherapy, Cancer Biology, Neurooncology, Neurodegeneration, Histopathology, Genomics and Bioinformatics.
During his candidature as a Master Student, he attended many Workshops, Seminars, Conferences, and Scientific gathering. Due to his hardworking, he was offered opportunity by his able Supervisor to teach Pre-medic Mesir 2013 Students Gross Anatomy, Embryology and Histology. His future aim is to be a successful research scientist across the world especially in neuroscience and/or cancer research. He can be contacted at um4ahmad [at] gmail.com or umar [at] neuroscientists.org.

Carlos Brites
Post-doctral Fellow, University of Aveiro Carlos A. D. Sousa Brites born in Nazaré, Portugal, in May 1981. He obtained a degree in Physics and Chemistry Teaching at University of Aveiro in 2004 and the M.Sc. in Optoelectronic and Lasers at University of Porto in 2007. From 2007 to 2011 Carlos developed his PhD studies in University of Aveiro in the subject Temperature Determination at the Nanoscale. During this period Carlos co-authored 9 ISI papers, including two invited review papers on nanothermometry. From 2011 until the present he is a Post-Doctoral research fellow in the same university, working in thermal characterization of nanostructured materials, with particular interest in dynamic temperature measurement at sub-micrometric scale using trivalent lanthanide ions. |

Andre Heber
Ph.D. Student, Universitat Leipzig Andre Heber is an experimental physicist working in the field of nanophotonics. He is utilizing optically heated Gold nanoparticles for various purposes for example the manipulation of light propagation, the study of thermal transport and phase transitions. He has received his master degree in physics from the University of Leipzig in 2013. Currently he is pursuing his PhD at the University of Leipzig working in the group of Frank Cichos within the junior research group "Efficient usage of energy: New concepts and materials".

Sanjay Lamba
Ph.D. Student, Center University of Rajasthan I completed my B.S. from University of Rajasthan and M.S. in applied mathematics from Central University of Rajasthan, India. Currently, I am pursuing my Ph.D. at the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Computational Sciences, Central University of Rajasthan under the supervision of Dr. Amit Chakraborty. My primary research is focused on the applications of informatics tools combined with dynamical system theories to understand biological regulation for the functioning of biological systems. I will be analyzing metagenomic data and sequence-based construction of regulatory networks. With the use of comparative genomic approaches, I will be probing the fundamental differences in the biological regulatory networks across different ecosystems.

Kuan-Ting Lin
Post-doctoral Fellow, University of Tokyo Kuan-Ting Lin received the B.S. and Ph.D. degree both in physics from National Cheng Kung University in 2006 and National Tsing Hua University in 2012, respectively. Since 2013, he has been a postdoctoral researcher at Kajihara-Lab of Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo. Now his research is focused on developing a passive type THz s-SNOM that can detect the spontaneous emission of sample itself in nanoscale. He expects this s-SNOM can be utilized to detecting the thermal image of the bio-sample in the near future.

Buntora Pasaribu
Ph.D. Student, National Chung Hsing University
Buntora Pasaribu obtained his Bachelor degree in fisheries technology from Riau University, Indonesia and Master degree in marine biotechnology from National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan. He investigated the influence of stresses environment in free-living Symbiodinium sp. This studies was motivated by nutrient cycle/circumstansce occurred between symbiodinium sp. and coral during endosymbiosis. Result suggested that Symbiodinium sp was enable to survive during nutrient limitation and drastically induced the massive lipid droplets in intracellular cells. To further understand the lipid droplets mechanism in plant (primitive to higher). He is now persuing his PhD advised by Dr. Jason TC Tzen at National Chung Hsing University.

Romy Schachoff
Ph.D. Student, Universitat of Leipzig In 2007 I received my Diploma in physics from the University of Chemnitz. Then, I started my phd studies in the Molecular Nanophotonics group of Prof. Cichos at the university of Leipzig. I am working on the topic of photothermal detection of single gold nano particles. Recently, we started to implement photothermal detection and correlation spectroscopy of single gold nano particles in living cells.

Beini Shi Investigation of intracellular temperature during stress granule formation Beini Shi received a B.S degree in Pharmaceutical Science from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, China, in 2012. Then, she joined Professor Takashi Funatsu's group in the University of Tokyo, where she started her research on intracellular temperature imaging. Now she is a master course student in the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Science at the University of Tokyo. Her current research topic is focusing on the intracellular temperature during stress granule, which is responsible for translation regulation. Her results may become a novel mechanism of this phenomenon. |
