In this seminar we introduce the concept of renormalization and effective field theories and give a qualitative description of how physics changes at different scales.

In "Ryukyuan Artifacts in the U.S. - A Detective Story"  Ms Fuji Takayasu, an Okinawa history of art specialist,  explains her search for Ryukyuan art pieces in museums and collections in the United States. It is a riveting narrative that  gives unexpected insights into Okinawan history and culture. The talk is lavishly illustrated and will be given in Japanese with simultaneous English translation.
