Title: Cryo-Electron Microscopy of Capsid-like Poxvirus Scaffold

Abstract: Recently, cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) community rejoiced rapid advances that have pivoted the technology to become a mainstream tool in life sciences, especially in structural biology. However, there are still many challenging biological phenomena that are not easily addressed by routine cryo-EM single particle analysis approach. One of such challenging projects is structural analysis of pleomorphic virus particles that are not uniform in size and shape. In this presentation I show current attempts at various cryo-EM techniques to dissect the assembly of poxvirus scaffold that involves self-assembly of capsid-like building block protein.
