Description

Internal Seminar: Krishnapriya Subramonian Rajasree, Student, Light-Matter Interactions Unit (Nic Chormaic Unit)

Title: "Cold Rydberg Atoms Near Optical Nanofibres"

Abstract: Neutral atoms in Rydberg states exhibit exotic features like long lifetime, huge dipole moment etc, which makes them excellent specimens for the study of interactions. These atoms, when combined with solid surfaces, could enhance their scope of application. Optical nanofibre based atomic systems are an excellent system to study how the Rydberg atoms can be controllably manipulated at vaccum solid state interfaces. We will discuss the excitation and detection of Rubidium Rydberg atoms near optical nanofibre.

Refreshments will be served afterward. We hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
