Description

Abstract

With so strongly imprinted belief in their catalytic roles in protein synthesis, it has taken scientists decades to acknowledge that ubiquitously expressed aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases play significant roles in important biological processes beyond translation. In particular, a cytoplasmic multi-tRNA synthetase complex (MSC) is recognized to be a central player that controls the complexity of biological systems. Although the role of the MSC in biological processes including protein synthesis is still unclear, maintaining its structural integrity is essential for life. In my presentation, I will mainly deal with current knowledge on the regulatory functions and structural aspects of the human MSC and its components.
