The Future of Climate U.S.-Japan Dialogue Series

Webinar#3: Mitigating Climate Impact Via Innovation

Co-sponsored by Elemental Excelerator

The U.S. and Japan must work together to explore innovations and new energy alternatives in order to mitigate climate change and its impact. This webinar will focus on the macro challenge that climate change presents and examine new cutting-edge scientific discoveries to foster resiliency as well as reduce emissions and other causes of climate change and environmental degradation.

Panelists include Ms. Naoko Yamazaki, Council Member at The Earthshot Prize and Astronaut (retired) JAXA; Dr. Noriyuki Satoh, Professor, Marine Genomics Unit (OIST) and a global expert on coral preservation in the face of climate change, Ms. Afshan Jamshaid, Ph.D. Candidate in the Energy Materials and Surface Sciences Unit at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST); and Ms. Dawn Lippert, CEO of Elemental Excelerator in Hawaii (and Palo Alto). Elemental Excelerator accelerates solutions to climate change and deploys them in communities that need it the most. This cross-cutting webinar will look at the science behind new energy technologies as well as the need and potential for deploying them and what this can mean for the future in both countries. Moderated by Dr. Jennifer L. Costley, Director of Physical Sciences, Sustainability, & Engineering, New York Academy of Sciences.

Post-Webinar VIP Reception
Join us after the webinar for a special 45 minute VIP reception with the panelists to discuss topics explored during the event (separate registration required).
