R U Okay Day and World Suicide Prevention Day
R U OK? is a harm prevention charity that encourages people to stay connected and have conversations that can help others through difficult times in their lives. Their work focuses on building the motivation, confidence and skills of the help-giver and it encourages us to reach out and support others. 8th September is used each year to raise awareness and encourage all of us to reach out and check in with people, especially those who may be struggling. World suicide prevention day is a global commitment to raise awareness, create conversation and encourage people to seek and provide support to reduce suicide globally. Saturday 10th September is World Suicide Prevention Day.
To mark both of these events at OIST, Ganjuu Wellbeing Service will have a stall at lunchtime at center court where they will be sharing information, leaflets, giving away World Suicide Prevention Day wrists bands and raising money for the Okinawan Lifeline, a charity that provides out of hours telephone support for people in crisis.
