Harii (Dragon Boat) Race

Harii is Dragon Boat Race which is said to have originated in China, to wish for a bumper year and pray for the safety of fishermen and is now celebrated around Okinawa. Every year the race is held on May 4^th in the lunar calendar, which fell on Sunday June 17th this year. It has been postponed to Sunday, June 24th due to a typhoon influence. This event is the biggest one in Maeganeku District. It is so much fun to experience the Okinawan traditional boat race.
