Description
Building on the success and positive reception of last year's Crafted Traditions exhibition, this renewed showcase continues a growing collaboration between the Onshu Craft Association and OIST. Featuring works by Tokuzan Seragaki, Akira Tamada, Hideyoshi Matsuda, Emiko Yoshida, Shigeo Abe, and the Teruya Studio, the exhibition celebrates the creativity, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage that make Onna Village unique.
The first exhibition fostered meaningful encounters between local artists, OIST researchers, students, residents, and international visitors, demonstrating the value of cultural exchange through art and craftsmanship. Encouraged by this enthusiastic engagement, the Onshu Craft Association and OIST are collaborating again in this cultural initiative that connect tradition, creativity, and community.
Presented at the OIST Tunnel Gallery Lobby, the exhibition invites visitors to experience ceramics and glass works inspired by the natural beauty, traditions, and evolving artistic practices of Onna Village. Through both established and emerging voices, the exhibition offers a rich perspective on Okinawa's living craft traditions and their continuing relevance in the contemporary world.
We invite visitors to celebrate the creative spirit of Onna Village, deepen the dialogue between art, science, and culture, and support an enduring collaboration that enriches both the local community and the international OIST campus.
