Gender, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) Gender, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (GEDI) Committee promotes and engenders the ongoing cultivation of an inclusive, equitable environment where everyone can reach their full potential regardless of their backgrounds and intersectional identities, including but not limited to gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, sexual orientation, mental or physical ability or attributes, medical condition, race, ethnicity, ancestry, culture, national origin, religion, political beliefs, family situation, marital status, or socioeconomic background. The GEDI Committee was created in August 2019 to replace the Gender Equality Committee. The committee is guided through its inclusive stance in inviting representation across the OIST community to be attentive to their experiences, aspirations, and needs.
