Onna Village Volunteer Garbage Bags
Sorting Guidelines
1. Please separate your garbage into four categories, plus hazardous waste:
(A) Combustible (Burnable) Waste
- Clothing, shoes
- Disposable diapers
- Kitchen scraps (food waste)
- PET bottles (if dirty)*
- Vinyl/plastic
- Tableware trays
- Styrofoam
- Paper
- Plastic containers
- CDs, cassettes, videos
Note:
- Natural debris (e.g., driftwood, wood, grass, seaweed) cannot be collected.
- Please place dirty PET bottles with combustible waste and only clean PET bottles in a separate bag.
(B) PET Bottles (Clean Only)
- Clean PET bottles should be placed in a separate bag.
(C) Cans & Non-Burnable Waste
- Large metal cans (Itto cans)
- Paint cans
- Electrical appliances
- General cans (food cans, etc.)
- Razors
- Bottle caps
- Pots, kettles, frying pans
- Nails
- Tableware, vases
- Lighters
- Mirrors, knives, broken items, etc.
Note:
- Knives and broken objects can be dangerous—please wrap them in paper or other protective material.
(D) Glass Bottles
- Beer bottles
- Large sake bottles (isshōbin)
- Other beverage bottles
- Jam jars
- Whiskey or wine bottles
- etc.
Note:
- Handle carefully to avoid injury.
(E) Hazardous Waste
- Fluorescent bulbs/tubes
- Light bulbs
- Dry-cell batteries
- Mercury thermometers
- etc.
Note:
- Take care to avoid injuries and breakage.
If the item does not fit into a bag:
Place it alongside the rest of your collected garbage without bagging it.
2. Where to Place Garbage
Please leave sorted volunteer garbage in a place visible from the roadway, being mindful not to obstruct pedestrians.
3. Garbage Collection
To request pickup of sorted volunteer garbage, please contact the Village Residents Section:

Collection Method:
The volunteer garbage you collect will be retrieved by a village-licensed waste collection contractor!
