SOCKS - Save Okinawa's Cats and Kittens
SOCKs was established in January 2016 by a group of animal lovers to help control the over abundant population of stray cats by conducting trap-neuter-release (TNR) campaigns in Okinawa.
TNR is an effective and humane alternative to mass killing of stray animals to keep their population in check. Cats who are fixed in a TNR campaign have their ears clipped and are fondly known as "Sakura-neko" in Japan. Over the past three years, SOCKs volunteers have helped spay/neuter over 220 cats across Okinawa.
Apart from TNR programs, SOCKs members also volunteer with local animal shelters and conduct fund-raising programs. To become a SOCKs member, email us at oistsocksclub@gmail.com! If you would like to learn more about SOCKs, follow us on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SOCKSatOIST/
