Travel and Accommodations

 

 

Flight

All participants are expected to arrive at OIST on the day prior to the start of the course and depart on the day after the course ends. For those who has been awarded funding for flights from OIST, please see this guidelines.

For those who will be using their own funding, you are welcome to visit other cities or extend your stays in Okinawa as you wish as long as you check-in to the couse on June 10th, 2018 and check-out of the course on June 15th, 2018. OIST will not assist or cover your extended stays outside of the course as well as your flight arrangement to and from Okinawa, Japan.

Accommodations

The selected participants are expected to stay at lodging facility that OIST provides. The shared guest rooms are provided free of charge.

For participants who choose to stay at nearby hotels or other facilities, they will be responsible for arranging their own accommodations, room charges, land transportations, and any associated cost.

Meals

Meals will be provided starting with dinner on the night of Sunday, June10 through breakfast on Friday, June 15th.

Passports

If you are traveling from overseas, a valid passport is required to travel to Japan.  It is important to ensure that your passport is valid for the duration of the course.  At least 6 months beyond travel dates is advised.

Japanese Visas

A visa may be required for some nationals to enter Japan.  Please refer to the information on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan to see if your nationality is exempted from obtaining visa for a short-term visit: http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/short/novisa.html#list
*OIST will assist in arranging visas, if necessary. However, we will not cover costs incurred in the process of obtaining a visa.

Transportations

OIST will arrange for transportation between Naha Airport (Okinawa) and the conference venue (Onna-village). Visitors are asked to arrange and cover the cost of transportation to and from the chosen departure/return airport.
