Science Day Gunma 2025 –The World of Quantum Mechanics–

The year 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the discovery of quantum mechanics, and has been declared the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology by the United Nations General Assembly and UNESCO. In celebration of this milestone, Gunma University and the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) will co-host Science Day Gunma 2025, an event aimed at high school students in Gunma Prefecture.

Event Overview

Introduction to Gunma University and Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST)
Learn about the research and student life at both universities. This will be helpful when considering your future career paths.

Basic Course on Quantum Mechanics
We will explain the world of quantum mechanics in a simple and easy-to-understand way—topics not yet covered in high school physics. The quantum world is full of fascinating mysteries. Enjoy exploring the world of science!

Experience and Consultation Booths
Various booths will be available where you can try hands-on experiences or ask questions. Feel free to visit the ones that interest you.

  • Booth 1: OIST Career Consultation – OIST students and postdocs will share information about careers as researchers.
  • Booth 2: Gunma University Career Consultation – Learn about studying at Gunma University and ask questions about entrance exams.
  • Booth 3: Quantum Computing Experience – Try quantum computing using a quantum computer emulator.
  • Booth 4: Quantum Sensor Exhibit – See quantum sensors and the diamonds used in them.
