The workshop will cover the following topics using the MZmine 2 software:
* Basic workflow of data analysis in LC-MS experiments
* Observation of MS data (spectra, chromatograms)
* Differences in various types of MS spectra
* Feature (peak) detection
* Peak list alignment
* Normalization
* Identification of noise signals
* Database search
* Chemical formula prediction
The workshop will be interactive. Please bring your own computer.
Prior to the workshop, please try to
1) download and install the MZmine 2 software from http://mzmine.sourceforge.net/download.shtml
2) download and install R from http://cran.ism.ac.jp
3) install required R packages as described in the MZmine manual
4) load your own MS data (if you have any) into MZmine
If you're not running on Windows, you might need to convert your data from the vendor format into an open format (e.g., mzML).
You can use the msconvert tool from ProteoWizard (http://proteowizard.sourceforge.net) for that (on Windows).
