Title:
Rigidity vs. flexibility of isometric immersions and degenerate deformations of Euclidean domains
Abstract:
We will discuss the dichotomy between flexibility and rigidity of isometric immersions. We will review some classical results, where the dependence of the results on the regularity of mappings are highlighted.
We will then present some recent results on the rigidity of these classes of mappings under Sobolev regularity and discuss some parallel results concerning degenerate deformations of Euclidean domains.
